ALDER official rules
No purchase or payment necessary to enter or win. This principle describes the sample structure. It does not open a promotion or provide a method of entry.
1. Sponsor
This sample describes an ALDER promotion (the “Sweepstakes”). The Sponsor would be [SPONSOR LEGAL NAME], of [REGISTERED ADDRESS]. Questions about a real promotion would go to [SPONSOR SUPPORT CONTACT]. ALDER is a fictional demonstration brand and does not identify a real sponsor.
The final rules must identify the party responsible for administration, prize funding, winner verification and prize delivery. If participating stores share a campaign, the rules must distinguish the Sponsor from those stores and provide the campaign’s participating-store list. This demonstration makes no claim of sponsorship or endorsement by Shopify, any marketplace or any social network.
2. Eligibility
In an operative promotion, entry would be limited to legal residents of [ELIGIBLE COUNTRIES AND REGIONS] who meet [MINIMUM AGE AND OTHER ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS] when entering. The final rules must state [EXCLUDED REGIONS] and any restrictions that apply to employees, officers, directors, agencies and household members.
Eligibility would remain subject to verification before a prize is awarded. The Sponsor would review entries against the published requirements. No country, state, age requirement or exception is approved by this sample. Visiting the demo store does not establish eligibility or acceptance of an operative promotion.
3. Entry period
The Entry Period would begin at [OPENING DATE AND TIME] and end at [CLOSING DATE AND TIME], in [CAMPAIGN TIMEZONE]. The Sponsor’s designated clock would determine whether an entry falls within that period. Any separate submission or receipt deadline must appear in the final rules.
Entries submitted outside the applicable period would not qualify. Any bonus period, changed entry rate or separate entry window must have its own stated dates and times. This ALDER demonstration has no open Entry Period and does not accept entries.
4. How to enter
Method 1: qualifying purchase. During a real Entry Period, an eligible order at [PARTICIPATING STORE OR STORE LIST] would earn [ENTRY RATE] entries for [QUALIFYING PRODUCTS OR SPEND], in [CURRENCY]. The published rules must define the treatment of taxes, shipping, discounts, refunds and cancellations, together with [PER-PERSON ENTRY LIMIT] and any bonus-period limits.
Method 2: free entry. No purchase or payment is necessary to enter or win. A real promotion must provide complete instructions at [FREE ENTRY ADDRESS OR URL], including required information, submission steps, receipt deadlines and [FREE ENTRY ALLOCATION]. These are placeholders, not an available submission method. Do not send personal information, mail or payment to this demonstration.
For the combined-pool structure illustrated here, valid entries from both methods would enter the same pool with equal chance per entry. Final entry rates, limits and the free route require review together before launch. Automated, fraudulent or duplicate submissions would be handled under the published rules. No entry, ticket or order in this demonstration participates in a real draw.
5. Odds of winning
In a real promotion, the odds would depend on the number of eligible entries received and [NUMBER OF PRIZES TO BE AWARDED]. The final rules must explain any prize groups or draw rounds that affect eligibility for a particular prize.
A purchase must not provide better odds than the reviewed free-entry route. No numerical odds are available for this demonstration because there is no entry pool, prize allocation or drawing. Sample numbers shown elsewhere in the demo store do not establish odds.
6. Prizes
The prize schedule would list [PRIZE NAME AND DESCRIPTION], [QUANTITY], [APPROXIMATE RETAIL VALUE PER PRIZE] and [CURRENCY]. The total approximate retail value would be [TOTAL PRIZE VALUE]. The final description must state included costs, excluded costs, delivery restrictions and any conditions required to use a prize.
The final reviewed rules would set any transfer, substitution, cash-alternative and availability conditions. Responsibility for delivery and any costs payable by a winner must be clear before entries open. No prize is offered, reserved, funded or awarded through the ALDER demonstration. Images and sample values are presentation examples only.
7. Winner selection
A real drawing would take place on or about [DRAW DATE AND TIME], in [DRAW TIMEZONE], under [RESPONSIBLE ORGANISER]. Before the draw, the Sponsor would review entries and remove those that fail the published eligibility or entry requirements.
The illustrated procedure combines valid entries into one pool and assigns each entry a sequential number. The pool would be frozen, with its checksum recorded. A random drawing would use a seed commitment published before the applicable deadline, followed by the seed disclosure and verification record after the draw. The final rules must specify the verification location and any additional rounds.
The reviewed procedure would define [NUMBER OF DISTINCT WINNERS], repeat-winner exclusions and the selection order for alternate winners. This page records no seed, checksum, result or completed drawing. It provides no evidence of a real promotion.
8. Winner notification and claim
Potential winners would receive notice through [NOTIFICATION METHOD] within [NOTIFICATION PERIOD]. They would need to respond within [CLAIM DEADLINE] and complete [REQUIRED ELIGIBILITY AND CLAIM DOCUMENTS]. A potential winner would become a confirmed winner only after the Sponsor completes the checks required by the final rules.
The final rules must explain undeliverable notices, late responses, ineligibility, declined prizes and the use of alternate winners. Any winner-list publication must specify its location, duration and the information disclosed. This demo has no potential or confirmed winner, claim process or prize collection request.
9. Taxes
The operative rules must state [APPLICABLE TAX RESPONSIBILITIES], [REPORTING REQUIREMENTS], [REQUIRED TAX FORMS] and any lawful withholding that applies to the prize and winner. These details depend on the confirmed jurisdiction, prize and current requirements.
The Sponsor must obtain current review before using any tax threshold, form or collection instruction. This demonstration sets no threshold, allocates no tax liability and requests no tax identification or financial information. It does not provide tax advice.
10. General conditions
A real Sponsor would apply the published rules consistently when reviewing suspected tampering, fraud, automated entries, incomplete submissions or other violations. The final rules must describe disqualification grounds and the treatment of lost, late, misdirected or technically unsuccessful entries.
If a technical failure or other serious interruption affects the promotion, any suspension, change or cancellation would follow [REVIEWED INTERRUPTION PROCEDURE] and applicable law. The rules must explain how existing eligible entries and advertised prizes would be handled. No right to cancel or alter a real promotion arises from this sample.
11. Limitation of liability
Any limitation of liability or release for an operative campaign would appear here as [JURISDICTION-REVIEWED LIABILITY TERMS]. It must identify the relevant parties and address participation, technical failures and acceptance or use of a prize only to the extent permitted by applicable law.
Mandatory consumer protections and rights that cannot lawfully be excluded must remain intact. This sample does not ask visitors to release claims, waive rights or accept a liability limitation. Its text is not a substitute for review of the actual promotion.
12. Disputes and governing law
The final rules would identify [GOVERNING LAW], [COMPETENT COURT OR REVIEWED DISPUTE PROCESS] and [COMPLAINTS CONTACT]. Those details must match the confirmed Sponsor and eligible markets, while preserving rights required by applicable law.
Any proposed arbitration provision, class-action restriction, remedy limit or filing procedure requires specific review before inclusion. None applies through this demonstration. The sample does not select a jurisdiction or require a visitor to agree to dispute-resolution terms.
13. Privacy
For a real campaign, [DATA CONTROLLER] would describe how entry information supports administration, eligibility checks, winner contact, delivery and required records. The privacy notice at [CAMPAIGN PRIVACY NOTICE URL] would identify the information collected, legal basis, recipients, security measures and [RETENTION PERIOD].
Marketing consent must remain separate from entry where required. The notice must explain withdrawal and applicable access, correction or deletion rights through [PRIVACY CONTACT]. This rules demonstration collects no entry information and provides no entry form. The website’s own privacy notice remains separate from this sample campaign text.
14. These rules
An operative document would identify [PUBLICATION DATE], [VERSION NUMBER] and its stable campaign address. Each published version would remain available according to the platform’s version policy. The published version applicable to an entry would govern that entry, subject to applicable law.
This page is a demonstration template only. It has no effective date, legal approval, published-rules checksum or operative version. Bracketed fields remain incomplete. The Sponsor must complete the campaign facts and obtain review before replacing this demonstration with a real document.
